Li Zheng approached Jin Li on the roof. Jin Li asked if Li Zheng was now together with Shao Xi. He nodded. Li Zheng then asked if he recorded Bai Bai to clear the misunderstanding between him and Shao Xi. Jin Li confirmed this. Li Zheng teased him for his nosiness but then, thanked him. Jin Li asked him to treat Shao Xi well. He stated that his withdrawal was not because he did not care for her anymore but it was because he wanted her to be happy. Li Zheng asserted that he planned to do just that even without Jin Li’s warning. Shao Xi then came by and Li Zheng called her when she appeared to want to escape. He encouraged her to talk to Jin Li and he left them.
Shao Xi advanced cautiously and Jin Li noticed it. He teased her to lighten the moods and then, Shao Xi expressed her apology. Jin Li declared that an apology was not necessary. He admitted that he was not happy but he felt that he made the right decision because he preferred her smiles to her cries. The two friends agreed to resume their friendship with a fist bump. Sigh… Friendship goal, right here.
It was morning. Both Li Zheng and Shao Xi’s alarms went off and the viewers get to watch the striking difference in both characters’ morning routines. Li Zheng’s was calm and collected while Shao Xi’s was colored with snoozes, grumbles, and incorrectly worn clothes. In her voiceover, Shao Xi commented that Li Zheng initiated their early morning travel to school and even, looked for her in his free time. Shao Xi rushed out the door to meet Li Zheng who was already waiting outside the gate. She apologized for her tardiness and Li Zheng accepted it with ease stating he was used to it. I am happy to see that these characters have developed a nice couple routine.
The weather was getting colder and Shao Xi noticed it. She was seen clutching her jacket tightly and Li Zheng grabbed her hand to place it inside his pocket. Shao Xi found a heat pack and teased him for supposedly putting on a brave face against the chill. Li Zheng then stated that he prepared it especially for her. Shao Xi was stunned but then she recovered and rushed to hug him in happiness. Shao Xi noted all of Li Zheng’s efforts as he tried to display his emotions through his actions. The two lovebirds were walking and talking as they passed by Bai Bai on the school steps. Shao Xi awkwardly removed her hand from Li Zheng’s pocket. Li Zheng did not like that and bless him, he grabbed her hand and put it right back where it belonged. Yes! Applause! Li Zheng is turning out to be the boyfriend of the year. Rightly so! No need to apologize or hide their growing affections.
Shao Xi was lying on her bed and writing on her diary. She was determined to work harder than before so that Li Zheng was happy and not regret choosing her. Hmmm… I am all for working harder but girl, you should be working harder for yourself! What happened to the cool and independent Shao Xi? Sigh… Shao Xi listed some activities she would like to experience with Li Zheng. These include holding hands together, going to the beach, having a picnic, and celebrating his birthday. She also changed his name in her phone to “Shao Xi Li Zheng I Love You”. This is actually the original title of this drama.
Shao Xi, Ru Ping, and Xiao Ciao were hanging out together in the kitchen. Shao Xi was baking a birthday cake for Li Zheng’s birthday. Ru Ping and Xiao Ciao mocked her baking skills and felt that a store-bought cake would be better. The girls then talked about Ru Ping’s new story based on Shao Xi and Li Zheng’s relationship that was garnering high readership. Xiao Ciao recommended that Ru Ping added a secondary female character named Angelina to take care and console Jing Li. Hahaha… This is a fluff scene that definitely should have been cut in editing.
Li Zheng came home to a dark house. He turned the lights on and was greeted with Shao Xi and friends surprising him to a birthday party. He genuinely smiled until he saw the hot pot in the middle of the table. Lol... For a clean freak, I can totally see how this would be the last thing he liked to eat. Jin Li had to worsen matters when he detailed excruciatingly how his present for him was making sure Li Zheng finished every last drop of the soup that had been filled with everyone’s saliva. Hahaha… Ewwww… Shao Xi came to his rescue though. She scooped a big bowl of food at the start in consideration so that Li Zheng could comfortably eat. Jin Li eyed their lovely interactions and seemed jealous. Xiao Ciao noticed this and scooped a piece of meat for Jin Li to comfort him. Xiao Yu noticed both of these and intended to do the same to Ru Ping. Instead, he tripped and almost scalded Ru Ping with hot soup. Hahaha…
Shao Xi and Li Zheng washed dishes together after the party while the rest of the party was sitting around in the living room to play cards. Li Zheng expressed his gratitude. Shao Xi shyly explained that as his girlfriends, it was only right that she planned the celebration. Li Zheng stressed that he was very happy that she planned everything as his girlfriend. They then dabbed some soapsuds on each other and played around lovingly. Jin Li again saw their whole interactions and grew uncomfortable. He excused himself from the group.
Xiao Ciao went upstairs to look for Jin Li. Jin Li asked what she was doing. Xiao Ciao admitted then that she wanted to accompany him because she liked him. She then proceeded to kiss him. This kiss was seen by everyone who all happened to also went upstairs. A bit too much of a coincidence, if you ask me. Anyway, the other four interrupted the kiss and effectively ruined the moment. Jin Li walked out and Xiao Ciao too, at the end. Shao Xi noticed how upset Xiao Ciao was as she was walking out and rushed to follow her. Shao Xi wanted to stop her but Xiao Ciao told her to just leave her alone. She admitted that she was upset because Jin Li continued to have feelings for her even though she never returned the affections. Xiao Ciao was also angry because she realized that because Shao Xi was her best friend, she too, could not be mad at her. So she begged Shao Xi to just leave her be. Sigh…
Jin Li was playing basketball to soothe his heartache. Li Zheng came over to challenge him to a game. Li Zheng advised Jin Li to clarify things with Xiao Ciao so that she did not misunderstand his walking away just now after their kiss. I feel that there is an undercurrent conversation here because I think Li Zheng is starting to catch on that Jin Li too, was beginning to have feelings for Xiao Ciao. Jin Li asked Li Zheng why he came over and he admitted that he came because he knew Shao Xi wanted someone to accompany him at this time. She could not come obviously so he came in her place. Jin Li appreciated his solidarity and the two boys happily played together. Shao Xi came over a little later to sneak a peek and left with a smile.
Shao Xi knocked on Li Zheng’s door to bring him a birthday cake. He made a wish and blew the candle. Shao Xi told him off as he was supposed to vocalize one of his three wishes so that all come through. Li Zheng claimed that all his wishes are one and the same: for him to be with her. Shao Xi presented her present: a Polaroid camera. She commented that he seemed to agree with Papa Zhong that photos needed to be printed and so she wanted to give this camera so that they can create more memories together. Li Zheng expressed his gratitude and then he too, took out his present for her. He gave her a box and when she opened and saw the necklace. She looked confused. She said that she thought the necklace was already given to Bai Bai. Both Li Zheng and Shao Xi cleaned their misunderstandings and Li Zheng volunteered to place the necklace around her neck. Li Zheng intended to kiss Shao Xi but accidently bumped her teeth. But he was not deterred, Li Zheng tried a second time and this time, he was successful. The two lovers gently kissed. Sigh… so sweet…
In class, Shao Xi received a text notice from Ru Ping reminded her that there was a class reunion that afternoon. Shao Xi agreed to attend. She then saw Xiao Ciao. She wanted to greet her but was reminded of her words urging her to be left alone. Jin Li came to class. Someone assumed that he was coming for Shao Xi but he corrected and said he was coming for Xiao Ciao. Xiao Ciao and Jin Li sat across each other on a park bench. He gave her a copy of an exam guide that was passed down from various seniors from their department. Xiao Ciao assumed that it was for Shao Xi and asked why he did not hand it to her himself. Jin Li exasperatedly corrected her and clarified that this copy was for her. He then proceeded to apologize for leaving wordlessly after she kissed him. He explained that his thoughts were in a mess then and he thanked her for accompanying him. He however explained that he was different from his past self. He would not just make use of her affections and started something off with her. So he urged that they just forget the kiss.
Xiao Ciao however explained that it was his business that he liked Shao Xi. But whom she liked was completely hers. She stated that her kiss may not be perfect but it was unbelievable. She then grabbed his collar and kissed him. So he should not forget her kiss that easily. And if in the future, he did not remember her kiss, she would kiss him again. And then, she walked off. I love this girl! She did something that Shao Xi should have done long ago to Li Zheng. Jin Li was stunned but then, he smiled gently while touching his lips.
Ru Ping was entertaining her high school classmates in a café with relationship stories of Li Zheng, Shao Xi, and Jin Li. Shao Xi came in and immediately covered her mouths. But their friends actually asked if Shao Xi was really in a relationship with Li Zheng. She admitted it and Da Mao walked in just as she said it. The girls continued to grill Shao Xi on how Li Zheng was like. Shao Xi admitted that he was perfect and had no weak points. Da Mao then interrupted her and said that Li Zheng was a psycho. An altercations between Shao Xi and Da Mao took place. Da Mao insisted that if she knew the truth, she would not be with him for a long time. Ru Ping defended Shao Xi and Li Zheng and told Da Mao to leave if he had nothing nice to say. Da Mao rudely pushed Ru Ping and Xiao Yu punched Da Mao. Xiao Yu warned Da Mao off and grabbed Ru Ping away. Still standing in the middle of the café, Da Mao continued to plant seeds of doubts on Shao Xi. He challenged her to ask him how he forced Da Mao to transfer school back in the days.
Xiao Yu dragged Ru Ping far from the café. Ru Ping finally stopped and asked him how much longer was he going to drag her away. Xiao Yu at first, let her hands go but then, he grabbed them again and asked if they could just continue holding hands. The twosome finally made some progress in their relationship. They decided to watch movie together and Xiao Yu promised that he would take her home safe and sound. Aww… Very sweet. On another part of town, Shao Xi was pondering Da Mao’s words by the river; whether there was some truths in his statement. Sigh… Why? She wondered if she should ask him but how to ask him since it happened so long ago. So apparently, one word from the neighborhood bully is enough to shake Shao Xi’s resolve. Sometimes I really hate how indecisive Shao Xi is written.
Shao Xi was on her way home when she saw on of the Jin Pai girls, Shan Shan, being bullied by two boys. The bullies told her to go away and when she refused, proceeded to fight her. They ended up losing and walking away. Bai Bai saw and recorded the whole fight. Sigh… Why did not she not call help? That is the least decent thing to do. Anyway, Shao Xi and Shan Shan went to a café. She explained that one of the bullies was her boyfriend. He was good to her until one day, he started asking for money and cheating with other girls. She said Shao Xi must be happy because it seem to be retributions for her past bad deeds before. Shao Xi however said that these were two different matters. She also noted that the reason she was so sad was because deep down, she still liked her bullying boyfriend a lot. Shao Xi got her there and she started sobbing. The two girls finally parted ways as their houses were on different directions. Shan Shan made Shao Xi promise that she would not tell the other Jin Pai girls what happened. I think this girl will prove to be a help to Shao Xi in the near future.
Shao Xi came home exhausted and immediately laid down on her bed. Li Zheng came in and asked if she wanted something to eat. He offered to buy something. Shao Xi however admitted that she did not want anything and just wanted to sleep. He picked up her book and of course, he saw her 10 list of things that she wanted to experience with him. Sigh… I think Li Zheng is starting to have a bad habit of reading her diary entries. Li Zheng tucked her in and then, he promised that he would do all of those ten things with her. He went so far and stated he would do more than those ten things. His thoughts were interrupted when Shao Xi turned and Li Zheng finally saw a scar on her cheek. Hmmm… Is psycho Li Zheng making another appearance?
Jin Li was in a convenience store having his dinner. Someone handed him a box of chocolate. Thinking it was Shao Xi, he smiled brightly. Only to be disappointed when he saw it was Xiao Ciao. Sigh… Xiao Ciao deserves better. Run girl! Far away… The two went to a basketball court. Jin Li asked if she could play basketball. She admitted that she could not. Jin Li then asked why she was there if she did not know how to play. Xiao Ciao stated that because she liked him, she enjoyed being with him anywhere and whenever. Jin Li started asking for her future plans. Xiao Ciao admitted that she most likely would be helping her mom at her company. Jin Li then in return admitted that he did not want to follow the paths that his father carved for him. He wanted to escape it all even though he recognized that some would consider his circumstances, lucky. He then stated that this desire to not follow his father’s plans was the reason why he did not want to be with Xiao Ciao. Xiao Ciao was exactly the type of girl that his father would choose for him. Xiao Ciao however said she was willing to leave everything just so that they would be together. Masochistic view! Why? Just be together in richer times. Problems solved.
Shao Xi came out of her room to go downstairs. She passed by Li Zheng’s room and was reminded of his offer to buy her food. As she was walking down, Li Zheng came out of his room and asked her to come to his room. Shao Xi started to imagine naughty things. Lol. Li Zheng finally came out and grabbed her to come in as she was taking her time outside. She sat down on his bed and Li Zheng came close. Shao Xi stopped him because she had not brushed her teeth yet. Lol. But Li Zheng told her that he was merely inspecting her wound and would like to medicate it. As he was medicating her, he asked what happened. Shao Xi lied and said she knocked something during the school reunion. Shao Xi then mentioned that she saw Da Mao at the gathering. She wondered why Li Zheng did not stay in touch with him when they used to be good friends at high school. She wondered if they argued about something. Li Zheng calmly answered that it was normal to not stay in touch since they were not in the same school. So many unspoken words here. Sigh… Shao Xi claimed that she was tired since it was so late and retired to her room. Both Li Zheng and Shao Xi stayed up in their respective rooms in their own deep thoughts.
In school the next morning, a video of Shao Xi fighting the two bullies broke out. Xiao Yu came in to show her the video that was going around. Shao Xi did not think anything of it. Later in the day, she passed by Bai Bai. Bai Bai stopped her and asked if she saw the video. Shao Xi admitted that she knew it was her that uploaded the video. Bai Bai then claimed that she could be the witness and said that it was the bullies that started the fight. Shao Xi basically ignored her and walked away. Unsatisfied that her taunts were not effective, she grabbed Shao Xi and accidently feel off the stairs. The Jin Pai triplets saw Bai Bai fell and thought this was another opportunity to ruin Shao Xi. The Jin Pai leader started the defend Bai Bai and confronted Shao Xi. The Jin Pai victim that Shao Xi helped tried to stop her two friends but was not successful. Xiao Yu saw their whole interactions and ran to get Li Zheng. The Jin Pai leader continued to yell and bully Shao Xi until Li Zheng came and removed her hand off Shao Xi’s shoulder. Yeyyy! Li Zheng never looked so hot until now. I am melting here.
