As all of DAY6 fans, MYDAY, might already know, DAY6 just held their first ever live meet in Indonesia on August 26th, 2017. But, if you haven't familiar yet with DAY6, let me share you bits about them. They are a band consisting of 5 members, and manage by JYP entertainment. The group is currently holding a project called, EVERYDAY6, where they released two songs every month for a whole year. They also recently just released their first album, "SUNRISE".
To commemorate their first ever visit to Indonesia, and also while waiting for their next release, I would like to share with all of you, a music video review of their latest single, and also part of their EVERYDAY6 project for the month August. Let's get started!
For the month of August, DAY6 released a song called "좋은걸 뭐 어떡해" or the English title is, "What Can I Do?". I think the literal translation of the title is "What Can I Do When I Like You"or "What Can I Do If I Like You."
This time around, the boys are acting as high-school students for their MV. If you haven't know yet, they usually didn't include lots of acting on their previous MVs. This alone already made me more excited for their August release. I'm going to start the review with a small recap of the MV, and after that I will share my opinion about the song and the MV as well.
The MV starts with Jae (the one with the glasses and pink hair) and Dowoon (the one wearing earphones). To me it seems like Jae is a good-friend, or best-friend of the girl. While Dowoon is obviously the popular guy, he literally had girls chasing him around.
And then we were shown Young K, (or I prefer to called him Brian, so I will continue calling him that), he's also obviously the bad boy of the school. The girls who previously follows Dowoon around seems like threatening him, so I didn't really think Brian is the kind of bad boy that makes all the students afraid of him, so maybe he's just a rebel.
In the library, we finally get to see the other two members. Sungjin, the one who got his eyes on the girl, and Wonpil the one who sits in the isle, and was looking at both the girl and Sungjin. It was obvious that Sungjin likes the girl, the way he smiles, and the heart-eyes..
It was continued with Brian meeting the girl, and Dowoon rejected a girl's gift or maybe it could be count as a confession as well. The boys were playing basketball (with tons of cheerleaders for Dowoon), and then Sungjin saw that it seems like the girl was looking or focused on someone, which turns out to be our resident rebel, Brian. And that's how the MV ends.
First of all, I really like the song. It started with a more rock feelings to it, but the chorus is so easy to follow, and the beat got me singing along and dance along with it right away. For me, it have the perfect young-love vibe. This easily tops on my favorite songs from DAY6. Their voice fits the song so well! Now, this is what I really like about them. They usually wrote and composed their own songs, which for me might also be the reason why their voices always fit the song so well, and their live performances are awesome too. They always seems so comfortable with their own songs, and have fun performing it.
Now for the MV itself, I must say that I really really like the changes! Sungjin especially was so spot on. I was pretty shocked when I saw him acting a little bit on their "I Smile" MV, but it was a very very small portion of the MV. But this time around. I have to say that I'm impressed. His eyes are so expressive, I could literally saw how he adored the girl, the heart-eyes, and shy smiles! It makes me so jealous! Brian was also pretty good, he could make himself pretty believeable rebel boy, a very handsome one. Jae, the ever so sweet Jae looks as adorable as he is in real life, so I can't really judge his acting. Wonpil was also pretty good for me. I could see how he was a bit worried that his best-friend (Sungjin) is turning into a lovesick puppy. And Dowoon is pretty much just like himself but less shy smile and awkward giggles. He fits the school popular guy pretty well actually.
I definitely would love it if they continue the story for their next release. There are questions open left and right on the storyline. Did Jae also likes the girl? Or was he just the best friend? Did Brian likes the girl? Or did he even not recognize her? Will Sungjin be heartbroken? Or will the girl likes him back?
Their next release (for the month of September) will be released soon. In fact we will get the teasers, in just a few days. So, let's just hope they will continue the story on their next MV. But if not, that doesn't mean I wouldn't like it. I believe they would also give us another awesome performances.
