Both Li Zheng and Shao Xi were on the rooftop to pick up their laundry. Their hands touched as they were picking up the same shirt. Shao Xi let go first and told Li Zheng to pick his own shirt. She turned to leave but turned around and said that she felt that they have not met each other in a while and wondered if he was avoiding her. Li Zheng replied that she was overthinking things and that he was not avoiding her.
In his room, Li Zheng took out a box that stored the paper plane with Shao Xi’s graduation thoughts: “Not only am I graduating from high school today, I am also graduating from my liking for you.” He appeared quiet and thoughtful. Dude, do something and fast. You are losing your girl.
Jin Li was coming to a café to meet his Ah Ke and Xiao Jian. But he ducked when he saw Xiao Ciao among them. He hid behind the counter and started to message Ah Ke. He told Ah Ke to read his words out loud as per his writings. He told Xiao Ciao that Jin Li was not what he appeared to be. He was a super jerk, who dated and slept around with many girls. One girl even had an abortion for him. He concluded that a nice girl like Xiao Ciao, should not directing her attention on Jin Li. Xiao Ciao was quiet for a while and then she stood up, threw water at Ah Ke and defended Jin Li. Xiao Ciao was confident if Jin Li started dating her, he would turn a new leaf and be a great guy. I love this girl! I think her confidence, her loyalty, and her overall self-awareness is inspiring. I really hope Dimples would start paying her attention. I want her to have a happy ending. Jin Li started looking at pictures of an isolated island and wondered if his brother would lend him money to buy it. Lol.
Shao Xi was coming up to her room when she turned around to look at Li Zheng’s room because she heard voices. Li Zheng introduced her to his study partners, Bai Bai, Da Tong, and Ah Zhi. Shao Xi introduced herself and Li Zheng clarified that she was his high school friend who now was his housemate because they lived in the same building. Aargggghhhh… I do not like how Li Zheng discounts their relationship to his friends. Shao Xi at the very least is a close personal friend and at most, she is his intended. Merely claiming that she is a high school friend / housemate is an insult! Ah Zhi was feeling thirsty and wondered if there is something to drink. Shao Xi offered some iced tea and was greeted with much enthusiasm. As she was preparing the drinks in the kitchen, Bai Bai came down to help. She asked if Li Zheng and Shao Xi really were only high school friends and if there were any ambiguity in their relationship. YES, THERE IS! But of course, Shao Xi dismissed her and stressed that they were too close to have any special feelings for one another. Li Zheng came down just as she said that and he looked angry and annoyed. Serves you right!
Li Zheng walked his friends out the door and then went to the kitchen to wash and clean up. Shao Xi approached him and started making small talks. Li Zheng was reminded over her flippant response to Bai Bai and was quietly washing cups on the sink. Shao Xi rambled that Bai Bai was a nice girl and seemed to really care for Li Zheng. Hold on! Is Shao Xi matchmaking Li Zheng with Bai Bai? Li Zheng asked exasperatedly, “So?” Shao Xi noted the annoyance in his answer and asked what made him so upset. Li Zheng exploded over her indifference and lack of jealousy, and started going on about her touching and borrowing his laundry detergent without his permission. Lol. Apparently, Li Zheng turns into a toddler when anger strikes him. Both Li Zheng and Shao Xi got into a screaming fight and Li Zheng walked away before he could hear Shao Xi’s jealousy over his pretty study partner who liked him and came over.
The next morning, she came to class and was greeted by her two new college friends. They noticed that she was annoyed and wonder who made her feel this way. Shao Xi dismissed their concerns and said that she did not want to talk about it. So her friend changed topic to where they should eat after class ended. The new Korean barbeque restaurant nearby came up. The three Jin Pai ladies overheard their whole conversation and started to scheme. In the next scene, we can see Shao Xi’s friend being intimidated by the Jin Pai ladies in the toilet. Hmmm… I have an awful feeling about this.
True enough, her friends came up to her and drove her out of their study group because their group was suddenly full. They hurriedly left for their next class and did not respond when Shao Xi reminded them of their eating date after class. Xiao Ciao and Xiao Yu heard the whole exchange but ignored it. These two girls are not friends. Heck, they are complete b*tches.
Shao Xi was sitting alone in a restaurant waiting for her two fake friends to arrive. She tried calling them and messaging them but received no response. In the next scene, we find out why. Her two friends were singing at a KTV along with the Jin Pai bullies, Xiao Ciao, Ah Ke and Xiao Jian. Xiao Ciao asked Xiao Jian if Jin Li were coming as well. And right on cue, he arrived. He dropped his key on the table and sat down. He noticed that Shao Xi was not around and asked where she was. Everyone was quiet and pretended not to know until one of the Jin Pai bullies mentioned that Shao Xi was not coming because she did not like this kind of place and would prefer eating at the nearby barbeque restaurant because of all the handsome guys working there. Jin Li called on their lies by claiming that Shao Xi will never say that. He left immediately after that since Shao Xi was the reason that he agreed in the first place. Xiao Ciao noticed that he left without his keys and ran to follow him. The Jin Pai girls too, noticed that Xiao Ciao was leaving and followed her behind.
Jin Pai girls stopped Xiao Ciao and suggested that they work together to drive Shao Xi out of the school because like them, she too did not like Shao Xi. But Xiao Ciao refused because she did not want to lower her standards and participate in their “teenage bullying” ways. You go girl! Respect! Jin Li overheard their whole conversation and started to view Xiao Ciao favorably. He then cornered the Jin Pai leader and warned her not to continue harassing Shao Xi. Jin Li walked away as soon as he completed his warning but his threats actually had a different effect on the girl. She actually was mesmerized by his forceful warning and started liking him.
Xiao Ciao caught up to Jin Li and handed him his keys. He gave her the sweetest smile, expressed his gratitude, and even called her intimately as Xiao Ciao. Xiao Ciao was stunned at first but felt happy due to his change of attitude.
Jin Li came over to the restaurant and asked Shao Xi who she was waiting for. Shao Xi mentioned that she was waiting for Heng Heng and Xiao Ha. Jin Li explained that they were singing at a karaoke place with a few friends from her class and his class. Shao Xi looked confused and betrayed. Oh poor girl! I cannot believe they are still engaging in these types of juvenile games in college. Rather unbelievable in my opinion. Shao Xi rationalized that they must have forgotten and stood up to leave in embarrassment. Jin Li stopped her and pleaded her to accompany him instead as he too, had not eaten. Oh bless him!
At dinner, Jin Li presented her with three meats to express 1) his apology for his intrusive comments at their last breakfast date, 2) his promise that in the future he would not spew nonsense in front of Li Zheng, and 3) his wish for them to reconcile. Awww… I really like Jin Li at the moment. Jin Li told her that she did not need to eat all three meats but should eat the last one to show her forgiveness. She did and all was right between them again. Jin Li is just too cool in this scene. He is mature and thoughtful. Making me really ship this second lead pairing. But of course, this is a drama that does not take itself too seriously. So what cames next is somewhat expected. Jin Li asked her to eat another piece of meat that asks for her willingness to be his girlfriend. But when he placed it on her plate, it was a burned piece. Lol.
Jin Li and Shao Xi came home in his motorcycle. Shao Xi excused herself to go up. Jin Li asked if her classmates ostracized her. Shao Xi did not admit it, told him not to say nonsense things, and went up to shower. Jin Li back hugged her and asked if he could be just like Li Zheng, a friend with whom she shared all her woes. Li Zheng walked in just then and ordered Jin Li to let her go. And of course, another poignant scene turned comedic: Shao Xi flipped Jin Li for hugging her and accidently hurt his right shoulder. Lol.
Shao Xi was applying patches on Jin Li’s shoulder with Li Zheng standing in the doorway looking in. Li Zheng actually appeared happy that Jin Li was hurt. Shao Xi left the room and Li Zheng closed the door behind them. She was on the way to her room but Li Zheng grabbed her hand to stop her. Li Zheng stared gently into her eyes and Shao Xi did not know how to react now that Li Zheng was holding her. Jin Li interrupted them to give back her medicine patch and spray. Li Zheng released Shao Xi’s hand. Shao Xi took her stuffs and told him to rest well. They started flirting a little bit and Li Zheng was annoyed over it. Lol. I actually like seeing him bothered and annoyed over this. It really is about time that he acts on his feelings.
Left alone in the corridor, Jin Li told him to come to him for an explanation if he wondered about the back hug earlier. Li Zheng replied that he did not need any explanation since his shoulder injury already clarified things. Jin Li wondered if he really was not concerned that Shao Xi would start liking him instead. Li Zheng issued a strong warning that he would cause bodily harm if that indeed happened. Yikes! For a while there, I almost forget that Li Zheng can turn into a psycho if aggravated. Da Mao, case in point.
Shao Xi saw her two fake friends in class and approached them. She asked them where they were yesterday since she waited for them for a long time in the barbeque restaurant. Her ‘friend’ asked if Shao Xi was really accusing them of standing her up. They started badmouthing her and moved away to seats away from Shao Xi. The Jin Pai bullies were smirking on the side. Aarghhhh… Who needs enemies when you have these two as friends? Xiao Yu and Xiao Ciao again noticed their interaction but did nothing to rescue her.
The next scene was a non-speaking scene where Shao Xi noticed everyone at the university had a friend or two and she was the only one alone. I feel so bad for her at the moment. Jin Li passed by his professor in the stairways and was stopped. His professor informed him that Shao Xi, his direct junior, missed her class and would fail if she continued missing classes. Jin Li looked worried.
Xiao Ciao was waiting outside for Jin Li with 2 cups of coffee. She practiced both acting cute and nonchalant to present the coffee. Lol. She is too adorable. I really like this character. Jin Li called Shao Xi but she did not reply. He told himself not too worry as it was common for college students to cut classes. Jin Li saw Li Zheng. And after a moment of hesitation informed him that Shao Xi could not be contacted and was ostracized by her classmates at school. He asked Li Zheng to notify him if he found Shao Xi and he would do the same. The two boys agreed and parted ways.
Shao Xi was waiting somewhere outside a school. And in came rushing was Ru Ping who greeted her with a big hug. Shao Xi actually relieved. Ru Ping asked her why she came by suddenly. Shao Xi lied and said Ru Ping was so tired prior to coming here so she came by to see how she was doing. Ru Ping informed her that she felt free and happy at university. She asked how Shao Xi was doing at her university. Before Shao Xi could explain, Ru Ping’s friend dressed in a traditional costume informed her that the director wanted her. Shao Xi was confused over their interactions and Ru Ping explained that she joined the Drama Club and was writing scripts for a play. She invited Shao Xi to watch the drama rehearsal but Shao Xi declined and decided to go back to Taipei. This is so heartbreaking to watch. The role reversal here hits Shao Xi so badly. She must really feel so low because it appears she is the only one not adapting well to university. The two girls hugged their goodbyes and Ru Ping noticed that there was something wrong with Shao Xi.
Ru Ping called Xiao Yu to find out what was happening with Shao Xi. He admitted that Shao Xi was being ostracized in class because of the Jin Pai girls. Ru Ping yelled at him for not coming to her rescue. Xiao Yu actually dared to claim that if not for Ru Ping, he would not be friends with Shao Xi. SHe reminded him that he was the reason Shao Xi fought with these bullies. Ru Ping was disappointed over his cowardly behavior. She explained to him that this was why she was never interested in him. He was tight-lipped just like how he was when Da Mao bullied her before. Even though he claimed that he liked her, it was Shao Xi that protected her against Da Mao. Xiao Yu ended the call sadly when he realized that things would be different if he had been the one to stop Da Mao then.
Shao Xi came home to her parents that night. She was greeted with her mom’s warm home cooking as well as Li Zheng who gave her a warm smile. They all sat at the dinner table and began eating. Papa Zhong advised her to study well and attend classes. Mama Zhong reminded her that tuition was expensive. Shao Xi took everything in quietly. Li Zheng gently assured Papa and Mama Zhong that he lived next door to Shao Xi and would take good care of her. Papa Zhong stressed that it was because Li Zheng also resided in the same building that he was comfortable letting her live outside. Papa Zhong gave an eye signal at Li Zheng. Lol. Sneaky, sneaky…
After dinner, they both walked home. Shao Xi received a message from Ru Ping. She said that she was coming in over the weekend. Shao Xi asked Li Zheng whether he knew she cut class today. Li Zheng looked at her gently and told her to tell him when she wanted to. Awwww…. When they reached home, they saw Jin Li having hotpot for dinner with his friends. Jin Li greeted them and invited them to join. Shao Xi joined the group but Li Zheng decided to opt out. Jin Li told her to forget everything and just enjoy the moment. Jin Li really is very sweet. After dinner, Shao Xi excused herself to take a walk as she was not feeling too well. Jin Li offered to accompany her but she said no need.
Shao Xi headed to the rooftop and met Li Zheng there. They talked about everything that was going on to Shao Xi: about cutting school and about her being ostracized by her classmates. Li Zheng made her realize that she should not be embarrassed and also, should face the bullying herself. Li Zheng reminded her that Shao Xi usually would not take this harassment quietly, the true Shao Xi would fight back twice as hard. He reminded her of the time when he slammed the door on her face and she knocked him down. Jin Li overheard their whole exchange in the stairway and realized that he had lost this round. Yeah, I must admit it too, Li Zheng really understands Shao Xi and knows exactly what to say and do at every turn.
In class, two of Shao Xi’s classmates were sitting down but moved away when they realized that Shao Xi was behind them. The Jin Pai bullies tried to provoke Shao Xi but Shao Xi actually called them out and challenged them to a fair and proper fight. Her challenge stunned them and they moved away to their original seats when their professor walked in. The professor raised the issue of their groupings for the midterm assignments. She noticed that there were few students who were not in groups yet and asked for these students to identify themselves. Shao Xi and Xiao Ciao raised their hands. The professor paired them together and asked other students to join this group as a minimum of 4 persons was required. After much deliberation with himself, Xiao Yu raised his hand. And another student, Han Rong (Alice Ke), was also assigned to the group.
The Jin Pai girls was discussing how Shao Xi did not seem to care that she was being ostracized. Li Zheng accidently overheard their conversation as he was reading on a bench. He also heard that the lead girl might have another plan to bother Shao Xi. Li Zheng seemed to be thoughtfully considering this new information. I think it is time for psycho Li Zheng to scheme again! Bai Bai came over to greet Li Zheng. She asked what he was staring at. Li Zheng would not say but she looked in the direction where he looked and realized that he was looking at the Jin Pai girls. Bai Bai asked if Li Zheng liked the Jin Pai girls. She claimed that she knew them as her roommate briefly mentioned their past bullying ways in high school. Hearing this seems to perk Li Zheng’s interests. He actually asked her out for a meal since he did not have class after this. Sigh… I know he is probably doing it to get as much information on these bullies as possible but he is still, using her. I feel bad for Bai Bai. Coincidentally, Shao Xi saw them as they were walking away together. Sigh… Another misunderstanding.
Jin Li asked Shao Xi out for an impromptu road trip on his motorcycle. Xiao Ciao intervened. She reminded Shao Xi that they had a report to finish tonight. Shao Xi agreed to group study and Jin Li volunteered to help them complete the assignment, as he was an expert on it. Lol. This coming from a student whose reputation is king of truancy.
In Shao Xi’s room, the foursome and Jin Li were brainstorming over how they should complete their assignments. They decided to use movie references to explain business theories. This was after Han Rong claimed that she liked watching movies and had watched many from all over the world. Jin Li took charge over the work assignments and they all agreed to complete their tasks by their next meeting.
Shao Xi overheard some noise and went outside to look. She saw Li Zheng together with Bai Bai about to enter his room to study. Li Zheng explained that the other two partners could not make it today so it would just be the two of them. Hmmm… There are many public places to study. Even the park bench works well! I do not think you have to bring her to your room. Shao Xi looked on awkwardly. Shao Xi was feeling jealous but helpless at the same time since she thought Li Zheng also saw her as a high school friend / housemate. Xiao Yu asked if Bai Bai was the school beauty from Qing Yu High School. Xiao Ciao belittled her style but Jin Li put a stop of the whole conversation and told everyone to concentrate on their report. Shao Xi pretended to concentrate but her thoughts were on the twosome next door. Little did she know, Li Zheng too, was thinking of her.
Shao Xi’s group finally ended their discussion and decided to go out to eat. She offered to buy some back for Li Zheng and Bai Bai. Bai Bai at first, wanted to take up the offer but Li Zheng declined it because they were about to finish. Bai Bai however asked Li Zheng to accompany her as she waited for her ride home. Shao Xi actually helped convince Li Zheng to accompany Bai Bai as it was getting late. Now, I do not understand why Shao Xi did this! Just be quiet and mind your own business.
Xiao Ciao, Shao Xi, and Jin Li went to a restaurant to eat local Taiwanese snacks. Xiao Ciao here really looked out of place. She was stunned that Shao Xi casually spooned some rice and fed it to Jin Li. Jin Li noticed that Xiao Ciao was not eating so he took some food and fed it to her. She was uncomfortable at first but opened her mouth. She was ready to take the food but stopped to ask what it was that Jin Li was feeding her. Jin Li said it was pig’s gums and her expression was absolutely priceless. Xiao Ciao refused to try it and Jin Li pretended to feed it to Shao Xi instead. She was trapped then and cautiously agreed to try it. She took a bite and found it really tasty. She ended up ordering more portions of pig’s gums.
Li Zheng walked Bai Bai out of his building. She asked him if he liked someone. And bless Li Zheng, he did not hesitate his response. He quickly answered, “Yes!” Bai Bai asked who the person was but instead of answering, Li Zheng pointed out that her taxi was here. He opened the main gate, bid her goodnight, and immediately closed it as soon as she was outside. Lol. Very rude but I am happy that he was not leading her on. Know your place, girl! Move on! He is not interested.
Shao Xi was studying in her room when she heard some rats in her room. She knocked loudly on Li Zheng’s door and hid behind him as he went to inspect her room. Li Zheng made fun of her fear of mice. Lol. As they were going around the room, Shao Xi overheard the rats again and jumped on Li Zheng. She caught him off guard and they both fell on bed on top of each other. Nice! Bless the mouse! Finally… Shao Xi realized their awkward position and wanted to get off. Li Zheng however, used his hand to push her back down. I am blushing like an idiot here. Hihihi…

I officially call this episode: the hand episode. Li Zheng grabbed Shao Xi not once but twice! Yipee… One thing that I do notice about this drama is how much it does not shy away from skinship. By the second episode, Li Zheng and Shao Xi were holding hands, albeit unconsciously, as they were running away from the Jin Pai bullies and were kissing in Shao Xi’s daydream. It is as if the writers are making up for the slow progress with skinship. My interest is still there but of course, it is not as high as it was in the earlier episodes because well, I do feel the storyline is starting to drag. I need Li Zheng’s confession.
On the other hand, Li Zheng is realizing that Shao Xi means her words on the paper plane note. She is indeed trying to get over her feelings. She pushes Li Zheng to be together with Bai Bai. Bai Bai even gives her an appreciative smile. I think this is why Li Zheng is making his move in at least two points of the episode: one, after he saw Shao Xi back hugged by Jin Li and two, at the end of the series when he pushed her back down to lie on top of him. Hihihi… I am still smiling like an idiot thinking of that latter scene. He is admitting his feelings for Shao Xi. Li Zheng is also putting an end to Bai Bai when he quickly admitted that he likes someone and rudely closes the gate on her. I really hope there is a confession in Episode 11.
Psycho Li Zheng has been dormant for a while. I think we can safely assume that in the near future, he will make a comeback. Psycho Li Zheng can actually be seen scheming and thinking when he accidentally overhears the Jin Pai bullies’ conversation. I hope to see him carrying out an elaborate revenge on this color-coordinating trio.
I feel bad for Bai Bai because Li Zheng is only asking her out for a meal to get information to help Shao Xi. He has repeatedly treated her coldly and has never made any first move. Bai Bai was the one who asks him to join the study group, to invite him for a karaoke session, and to approach him when he was reading alone on the bench. His invitation for a meal for information could be misconstrued if he did not end it so rudely. She is too weak of a character to attract any strong emotions. As a challenger for Li Zheng’s affection, she is a small shrimp compared to Shao Xi. I guess in a way, I have to be grateful that although it takes him a while to admit and act on his feelings, he does not meander to other girls in the process. But it has been 10 episodes and Li Zheng and Shao Xi’s relationship has remained unchanging in the last few episodes.
On a happier note, I do appreciate how quickly Jin Li is changing his attitude towards Xiao Ciao. Their dynamics is so relaxed and fun, the pork gum scene for example. It is providing a much needed contrast to the melancholic and misunderstanding-laden relationship between Li Zheng and Shao Xi. I will repeat my comment from last episode. I really do hope for a happy ending for Xiao Ciao. She is just too cute.
